Syslog

Relay critical log to the Syslog Server

Syslog has been around for several decades and provides a protocol for transporting event messages between computer systems and network devices.

The syslog protocol uses a layered architecture that allows the use of any number of transport protocols for the transmission of syslog messages. It also provides a message format that allows vendor-specific extensions to be provided in a structured manner.

7gfuse syslog
Functionality

Proven syslog procedures often recommend storing log messages on a central server that can provide a correlated overview of all log data generated by different system components. Otherwise, analyzing each individual log file and then manually linking each related log message is extremely time-consuming. Therefore, forwarding local log messages to a remote log analysis server via syslog has become the standard solution for industrial logging.

The 7G Fuse device is equipped with a syslog module that allows the customer to easily forward all device-critical messages/logs from the 7G Fuse device to a central syslog server.

This helps to track device logs, facilitates troubleshooting, and manages a centralized repository for logs.
