Site-to-Site VPN – Secure, Intelligent Inter-Branch Connectivity

A Site-to-Site VPN connects two or more network locations securely over the public Internet, private WAN, or a combination of both. Unlike client-to-site VPNs, which connect individual devices to a network, Site-to-Site VPNs link entire networks, allowing seamless communication between branches, headquarters, data centers or remote offices.

7G Fuse enhances traditional Site-to-Site VPNs by combining multi-WAN bonding, traffic intelligence, and dynamic routing, ensuring optimal performance, high reliability and zero downtime. Instead of sending all traffic through a single Internet link, PBR enables traffic to be intelligently steered through specific groups of WAN interfaces according to user-defined policies.

Routing Capabilities:

Static Routing
  • In static routing, network administrators manually configure fixed paths for traffic between sites.
  • Ideal for small networks or branches with predictable traffic patterns, static routing provides:
    • Simplicity: Minimal configuration and easy to manage
    • Deterministic paths: Traffic always follows predefined routes
    • Predictable performance: Useful when bandwidth and latency are consistent

Dynamic Routing – OSPF & BGP

For large-scale enterprise deployments, static routing is insufficient. Networks need automatic route adjustments to handle complex topologies, multiple links, and variable WAN conditions. 7G Fuse supports two major dynamic routing protocols:

1. OSPF (Open Shortest Path First)
  • Used for internal networks (Intranet) within an organization
  • Enables fast route convergence, meaning if a link fails, OSPF recalculates the best path almost instantly
  • Reduces downtime and avoids traffic bottlenecks
  • Ideal for organizations with multiple branches or a mesh of interconnected sites
2. BGP (Border Gateway Protocol)
  • Typically used for Internet-facing connections or multi-homed networks connected to multiple ISPs
  • Provides intelligent route control and path selection based on policies and network conditions
  • Supports multi-homing to improve redundancy and optimize routing through the most reliable or fastest ISP path
  • Ensures ISP-level resilience in case of link failure or congestion
